Mauricio Arrango
Mauricio Arrango is a Colombian artist residing in the United States. One of the central questions of his practice is how art can allude to those things that impact the lives of many, but are not registered. In approaching these questions, his work has evolved from issues regarding the flow of information and visibility.
La Distancia
“La Distancia is an audio track representing a trip to a distant and unknown place. The repetitive and low-pitched bass sounds underscore the lack of any human element and emphasize detachment from one another. We only start sensing the presence of a more human component at the terminus of the piece when some rhythmic melodies infiltrate into the soundscape. This piece is inspired by the situation of unrest in my home country, Colombia.” — Mauricio Arrango.
